Nissan: Warning & Indicator Lights

Nissan models have two different types of lights: warning and indicator. An indicator light is generally blue or white and is just letting you know that a system feature is active-such as your high beams.

A warning light will either be yellow or red, which is a sign that there's a larger issue.

Red Lights

  • Engine oil pressure warning light

This symbol looks like an old-fashioned oil can and is there to let you know that it's time for an oil and filter change or a fluid top-off.

  • Brake warning light

When you see the word BRAKE or an exclamation point circled, it's time to get the brake pads and the rotors checked out to ensure they're working properly.

  • Seat belt warning light

If your vehicle senses a passenger in a seat without their being bucked in, it will alert you with a symbol of someone wearing a seatbelt.

Yellow Lights

  • Low tire pressure warning light

This symbol is an exclamation point in parentheses and will turn on when the pressure is low in one of the tires.

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) off indicator light

If you see a symbol with a vehicle veering off its path, it's a sign that the VDC is off. Unless you're trying to pull your vehicle out of the mud, the VDC should always be turned on for extra stability and traction control.

When you see a red or a yellow warning light, be sure to schedule an appointment with our service center!
