2020 Sentra vs 2020 Corolla: Performance

Good things come in small packages; that's true with many things, but especially smaller sedans. They often come equipped with effective and peppy engines.

The 2020 Sentra comes standard with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which offers 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. The Corolla, on the other hand, only provides a standard engine of 1.8L with just 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque.

Both models also come with several options for the transmission. The starting level of the Nissan Sentra is available in an Xtronic CVT®, so you have the option of being in complete control. The Corolla also offers its own CVT, but since the Xtronic is exclusive to Nissan, you won't find it on any of Toyota's trim levels.

Eco Friendliness

Different features have been added to cars over time in order to make things a bit more convenient for its drivers. For example, the Nissan Sentra offers its drivers different driving modes with which they're able to select what they want the car to focus on. In Eco mode, the car will duck down the amount of power to the AC system and focus more on fuel economy.

Both cars are low-emissions vehicles, thus further protecting the environment. However, the base trim of the 2020 Sentra offers an EPA-estimated 29 city/39 highway MPG.* While the base trim of the Corolla offers a slightly higher 30 city MPG, it only offers 38 highway MPG. Both vehicles' estimated gas mileage is incredibly respectable, but the 2020 Nissan Sentra will take you just a little bit further with less stops, so you and your friends can enjoy the ride.

Nissan Sentra vs Toyota Corolla: Interior Space

If you don't think a sedan can be spacious, just wait until you take a look at the interior of the Sentra. Nissan's sedan provides comfortable seating for up to five passengers. While Toyota's sedan offers the same arrangement, passengers may not be as comfortable.

The Sentra provides 44 inches of front legroom, which is a substantial upgrade from the Corolla's mere 42 inches of front legroom. Things don't improve much in the rear of the Corolla, either, with just 51.3 inches of hip room, compared to the 53.3 inches of rear hip room found in the Sentra.

Not only does the Sentra allow your guests to stretch out, it also provides ample space for all of their stuff with 14.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. Folks driving the Corolla will only have 13.1 cubic feet of cargo volume to fit all of their belongings.

Nissan Sentra vs Toyota Corolla: Technology

Let's talk tech. Both the Nissan Sentra and the Toyota Corolla offer plenty of it, providing various ways to stay connected, entertained, and informed behind the wheel.

Up front, each sedan comes equipped with a standard 7-inch touchscreen display, with the option to upgrade to a larger 8-inch display. Moreover, each also brings the ability to charge your devices, although the Nissan sedan offers optional USB Type-C outlets for even faster charging. The Corolla only provides standard USB charging.

Speaking of smartphones, with the available Nissan Intelligent Mobilityâ„¢, it's easier than ever to enjoy seamless mobile integration. Listening to your favorite song? Hop into the Sentra and you can continue listening right from where you left off. Pretty cool, right?

Nissan Sentra vs Toyota Corolla: Safety Features

Safety is a top priority when it comes to any automobile. Thankfully, your Sentra comes equipped with the confidence-boosting Nissan Safety Shield® 360. This suite of driver-assistive features includes:

Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection: By monitoring your speed and distance between you and the vehicle ahead, this system will let you know if you need to slow down. If needed, it can even automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a frontal collision.

Blind Spot Warning: Get an extra set of eyes on your blind spot. Here, your Sentra will stay on the lookout for any hidden vehicles and will send a warning if one is detected.

Lane Departure Warning: Ensure you're always in the right lane at the right time. If Lane Departure Warning senses you're beginning to drift, it will apply haptic feedback on the steering wheel.

While the Toyota Corolla also comes standard with similar safety features, the Sentra does have one system not offered in the Corolla: The Intelligent Around View® Monitor. With a 360-degree birds-eye-view of your vehicle, you can park like a pro.
